A day at the races

What a fun day. On Saturday, Mindi took me to the horse races at Del Mar. "Where the turf meets the surf!" ...because the horse race is literally right on the beach. So California.

We had a good time wandering around in the sun, meeting new people and learning how to place bets. We both won a few and lost a few...

We drank a huge bloody mary, had some beer, popcorn, ice cream and fish tacos. A great day with a good friend. Thanks, Mindi!

Too much fun

We had a fun evening at our favorite sushi restaurant. Love Boat Sushi is tucked in to the local Lowe's strip mall. We started going there when we spent EVERY weekend at the shopping center.

But now we've become 'family' as they said the other night. We had a fabulous fresh fish with a bit of sake on the side.

Then the owner decided we needed flaming sake bombs, one problem though... they weren't made with sake. Yukon Jack and Sapporo, not a good combo people.

But all in all a good time, great time even.

The Mac Mini! Wow! I didn't even know Apple made such tiny computers. Thomas did though! My old computer has been on the fritz for a while so before I lost it completely he thought I should have a new one.

It's so cute and little.

My old Apple iBook went to computer heaven a long time ago so I've been on a PC for the last few years. I've been wanting a Mac for a while but hadn't put much thought into it... apparently he did! Thank you, hon!

The instruction manual had a nice little note:

Long legs make long shadows

It's going to be another warm day here today. Nothing like the east coast, but hot none the less. No breeze, no air conditioning, but lots of baking sunlight.

I've been trying to keep my newly planted garden alive by giving it just enough water to keep the plants from wilting. This theory will hopefully make the plants root deeper making them hardier.

By the time the cooler days of autumn arrive, I should have stronger, happier garden dwellers.
